Pinehurst No. 2 will be the site of the 2014 Men's and Women's US Open Golf Championships. Both tournaments have been hosted here in the past with the women's event at Pine Needles. Annual events such as the Stoneybrook Steeplechase held at the Carolina Horse Park alsodraw large crowds. On a Saturday morning in the spring the bright colored shirts of bikers can be seen in the countryside during the popular Tour de Moore bike race. From a summertime visit from the NC Symphony in the park to a streetside gathering for the Carriage Christmas Parade families,friends and visitors to the area have many opporunities all year long to enjoy festivities.

The Weymouth Center is known and loved by all as a place for weddings, hunt breakfasts, fascinating lecture series, flower shows and musical gatherings. Walks in the surrounding gardens and state park are particularly delightful and often enhanced by the sight of a horse and carriage passing by.
