Moore County is a largely rural county with a population of 85,000 centered in the towns of Pinehurst (12,000) Southern Pines (13,000) Aberdeen (5,000) and Carthage (2,000). Development tracts, large farms and acreage from hundreds to several thousand are available. An extremely popular niche is the 10-acre horse farm, available in a number of horse farm developments or through individual locations throughout Moore County. Many of the towns and golf communities offer building lots for new construction.
